BIOGRAPHY
Adriano Jordão was born in Angola in 1946. He studied in Portugal with Helena Sá e Costa and other teachers. In 1967, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation offered him a grant, which enabled him to do a year of advanced study in the United States of America. In 1969, after completed the National Conservatory of Lisbon advanced course with the highest distinction, in Helena Matos class, he continued to study in Paris, under the guidance of Yvonne Lefébure. He won awards in several Portuguese and international competitions, including the 1st Prize in the Debussy International Competition in France.
Adriano Jordão's artistic career has taken him all over Europe, North and South America, as well as Africa and Asia. After his American début in the USA (with the Kingsport Symphony in the Tennessee) he played in San Francisco, Washington, Boston and New York, at the Lincoln Center (with the New Orchestra of Boston under David Epstein) on the Carnegie Hall( with the Queen's Symphony under John Neschling) and also in Canada. His concerts in Brazil, at all the major halls, in Mexico, Venezuela, Paraguay, as in Africa (Morocco, Senegal, Cape Vert, Angola and Mozambique) or Asia (India, Thailand, China, Korea ,Japan) achieved always great success. Adriano Jordão also appeared, besides of course Portugal, in Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Austria, Finland, Russia, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Turkey.
Founder and Director of the Macao International Music Festival for the first five years, Artistic Director of the Casa de Mateus and the Azores Festival in all their editions, was also Director of the Sintra Festival.
For 2021 he hopes to complete many of the projects postponed in 2020, with concerts already scheduled in Coimbra, Mafra and Azores, and also in Rabat, Morocco, Belgrade and Varjam in Serbia and in Brindisi and Rome, in Italy.
