Vasco Dantas, a Portuguese pianist born in Porto in 1992, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree with “1st Class Distinction” from the Royal College of Music in London, studying piano with Dmitri Alexeev and Niel Immelman, and conducting with Peter Stark and Natalia Luis-Bassa. He completed a Master of Performance with the highest honors under the guidance of Heribert Koch, as well as a doctoral study “Konzertexamen” at the University of Münster.

Vasco is the Artistic Director of several Festival Music Series, including the Algarve Music Series, Sezim Music Series, and the Piano Concerto Festival. He has received over 50 prizes and awards in international competitions, including: the GianClaudio Chiais International Prize (Rome), the Grand Prix at the Valletta International Piano Competition (Malta), the Prix Spécial at the Concours International de Piano SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem (Morocco), 3rd Prize at the Münster Steinway & Sons Piano Competition, a travel scholarship for the Bayreuther Festspiele 2016 from the Richard Wagner Foundation, the Gold Medal of Merit (City of Matosinhos, Portugal), the Fundação Eng. António de Almeida Prize, the Prize for the Best Portuguese Performer (Viseu International Competition), the Esther Fisher Prize (2013 best graduate of the RCM in London), the Antena 2 Prize (Portuguese National Radio), the Henry Wood Trust Prize (2011 and 2012), the Casa da Música 2009 Prize, and the following First Prizes: Porto Santa Cecília International Competition, Lisbon Estoril Competition, Ría de Vigo International Piano Competition, Alto Minho International Piano Competition, Fundão International Piano Competition, Florinda Santos International Piano Competition, and the Maestro Ivo Cruz Chamber Music Competition.

In 2022, he debuted as a soloist at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées (Paris) with the Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa. In 2019, Vasco made his piano recital debut at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2017, Vasco made his debut in Russia, performing with the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra at the Grand Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. In 2016, he made his German orchestral debut, performing with the Jülich Sinfonieorchester and the Junges Sinfonieorchester Aachen. In 2015, he debuted in Asia, playing with the Hong Kong Symphonia at the City Hall Concert Hall; in 2014, he debuted in America, playing with the Orquestra Sinfónica Espírito Santo in Vitória, Brazil; in 2013, Vasco made his orchestral debut in Portugal with the Porto Symphony Orchestra (Casa da Música); in 2011, he gave his piano recital debut at the Sala Suggia of the Casa da Música in Porto, inaugurating the EDP Piano Cycle 2011.

He has also performed as a soloist with orchestras such as Clássica da Madeira, Clássica do Centro, Clássica do Sul, Festival de Música Júnior, Filarmónica Portuguesa, Filarmónica das Beiras, Gulbenkian, Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa, Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra Promenade, Sem Fronteiras, Sinfónica de Cascais, Sinfónica Portuguesa, and has worked with renowned conductors, including Choi Sown Le, Daniel Cohen, Dinis Sousa, Günter Neuhold, Jan Wierzba, Joshua dos Santos, Martim Sousa Tavares, Martin André, Misha Rachlevsky, Nicholas Kok, Nikolay Lalov, Nuno Coelho, Osvaldo Ferreira, Pedro Carneiro, Pedro Neves, Peter Sauerwein, Rui Pinheiro, Vassily Sinaisky, and Victor Hugo Toro.
